Snowflake Challenge | Day 1 | Introductions
January 1st In your own space, introduce yourself!

So, I've been seeing this challenge floating around my dash and frankly, it seems too fun not to try out. I know that its not exactly January 1st buuut, I thought I'd still like to pretend with the dates (and to keep myself straight with the prompts) 😂
When it comes to introductions, I'm notoriously bad at them and most of the ones I have are truly, utter rubbish so with this one I suppose I ought to start from the top...
I was born in the good ol' nineties, branding me somewhere between the old fandom of LJ/FF.Net and the new wave of fandom on Tumblr/AO3. I missed out on most of the major changes, but I manage to still feel older than time every now and again when I think about TV Shows that have come and gone in popularity.
As for sites, I tend to float around the internet in a few different places, scouring the web for rarepairs and good conversation. For the most part though, I've got home bases setup at LJ, Tumblr, and Ao3.
If there's a fantasy fandom, then there's a good chance that I've watched it and at least read a hand full of theories about it if nothing else. However, the reality is I likely spiraled into a deep obsession with it and spent weeks in my teenage years reading every scrap of fanfiction I could find on the material; particularly the rarepair I gravitated to for that series (and trust me it's almost always a rarepair-- I'm both cursed and blessed simultaneously). Some of these such notable mentions include Star Trek (Voyager and Enterprise chiefly), Harry Potter, Stargate (all of them), Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Veronica Mars, The Labyrinth (1986), Grimm, Andromeda, and Supernatural just to name a few.
I have posted fanfics of my own since 2009 (on different accounts), though believe me those are not ones you'd want to read. They're in a word, rough, but I keep them around as a reminder of where I've come from in my writing. Goodness knows, I don't still have the hard drive with those documents on it anymore. In 2017, I sadly stopped writing due to stress and changes in my life, and have been struggling to pick it back up ever since. I've begun daily journaling in 2020 to help me regain confidence and stamina for the craft. This has been met with a ton of support and encouragement for which I am very grateful ❤️. In the meantime, I've been reading fics and doing my best to remember to leave reviews for folks as I know it can mean a lot.
Fandom history has always utterly fascinated me, and so whenever I get a chance to learn about it, I'm always all ears. I believe this comes in part from having a love for older fandoms/ships and because of a natural love for the past (I was almost an actual history major in college). I love cultural history, especially personally accounts and fandom culture's history is built largely upon that, it's like bread on butter for my palate.
I'm sure I could go on and on here, but I think for an introduction I had best stop here if I'm looking to be even tangentially succinct. Thank you Snowflake_Challenge mods for putting on this event, it has been really fun to read and think about the questions posed thus far.

So, old fics, eh? Where can I find those? 😂

Oh gosh, they're tucked safely away on a long dormant account on FF.Net. Believe me, I speak the truth when I say they're definitely something a kid would have written. Ironically no HP stories from back in those days, just little animation shows I liked and the movie The Matrix.

I, too, have been struggling with writing for the past couple of years. I hope returning to journaling helps
